Simon Langworthy appointed Chief Commercial Officer

Brightwell, the end-to-end service provider for defined benefit schemes, has appointed Simon Langworthy as Chief Commercial Officer and promoted Andy Whitelaw to Deputy Head of Member Services, effective immediately.

In his new role, Simon is responsible for leading Brightwell’s business development and client relationship strategy. He will retain oversight of member services.

Simon joined Brightwell in 2010, (when it was BT Pension Scheme Management) as Chief Operating Officer, becoming Chief Administration Officer in 2018 leading the successful transformation of BTPS’s member services including in-sourcing administration and repatriating the contact centre.

Before joining Brightwell, Simon was Managing Director and COO of Europe Business Operations at Blackrock, having spent six years at Barclays Global Investors running global functions, including asset services, client order management, client take-on, business change and product development. He has over 30 years’ experience in the banking, asset management and pensions sectors and is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Andy Whitelaw joined Brightwell in 2015 and was appointed Head of Administration Strategy in 2018. He is a qualified Actuary and previously worked for Willis Towers Watson as a Pensions Consultant.

Morten Nilsson, CEO, Brightwell said:

“Simon understands the full spectrum of challenges facing DB schemes having had hands on experience of managing them himself. As Chief Commercial Officer he’ll bring fresh perspectives to schemes seeking a long-term partner, not just a service provider.

“Andy’s promotion to Deputy Head of Member Services recognises the significant contribution he has made during his time with us and I’m delighted to see him take on this new role.”

Simon Langworthy, Chief Commercial Officer, said:

“I’m delighted to lead our business development and relationship activities. Our first-hand experience of transforming member services, funding and fiduciary management gives us a unique insight into the most significant challenges faced by DB schemes. This, alongside our outcome orientated approach, means we have something special and different to offer new potential DB scheme clients.”

Andy Whitelaw, Deputy Head of Member Services, said:

“In recent years, we have delivered a huge amount on behalf of BTPS hugely increasing member satisfaction. With Brightwell, we have an opportunity to share what we’ve learned and extend what we do in member administration to other schemes. It’s an exciting time to be taking on this role.”
